update on baby

Max loves his fluffy new bed. He practically carries it around with him (of course, he sort of thinks it's a glorified chew toy -- but we're working on that). He sleeps in it when he's in his crate. He sleeps in it when he's at my feet while I work at the computer. He sleeps in it when the boys want him with up on the couch next to them. And right now, as I type this, his body is half sprawled out of it, his bat-like ears are flipped back and away from his head and he has the silly thing partially tipped over. He's simply a crack up!

Max is playing nice, peeing nice, pooping nice, eating nice and really getting the hang of riding in the car nice (the howling has diminished to low-level whimpering when the car is in motion). The kids love him. The hubby loves him. And most importantly, I love that fuzzy little guy -- I'm absolutely ga-ga for him!

What a cutie! I'm so glad to hear he's doing well. I didn't grow up with a dog in the house but now I can't imagine life without Gromit. You can have the crappiest of crap days and come home and there he is, big goofy smile so happy to see you. Makes it impossible to feel too bad about anything. More pics of Max please. :)

Oh he's so sweet. Does he fart yet? All dogs fart - it's just a matter of time...but he is adorable...

You better hope I NEVER meet you and Pos out some place with that dog or I might get charged with dog-napping! He looks just like the mutt I had in high school -best damned dog that ever walked the face of the earth, he was too! So, I can really, really understand how quickly your entire family has fallen in love with this little guy.

Hedy -
I'm so pleased you approve of my poochie. He's still adorable but has been exhibiting an irksome tendency of jumping up and chewing on the boys -- it must be because they smell so gnarly and are loud like dog chew toys.

Mya -
No farting yet (thank the Lord!). But he's got some pretty wicked puppy breath. I'll have to invest some canine toothbrushes ...

Jeni -
Oh no! All future puppy pictures will be Photoshopped and digitally altered until Western PA's notorious "Granny Puppy Snatcher" has been taken into custody ;)

(j.j. - I'm really glad you love my baby!)

I have to share with all of Molly's regular readers - - when I called to rag her about getting a puppy, she was in the middle of taking him out for his "personal business." I swear to you, I don't talk to my one-year old child like this!!!! Molly was cooing and gooing and gushing over Max's bodily functions. It was one of the best telephone conversations we've ever had!!!

(Sorry to out you Molly! It was just so funny!)

she makes the same comments to me when I do my "personal business"

HEY! He was so darn cute making his wee-wees and poopies! I just had to fawn all over him.

Besides, I really need him to be house trained ...

... unlike my husband, who obviously still needs coaxing and cheering to get him to do his business

:p

He spends all his time in the bed when you're around, and according to the other blog, he cuts into solitary writing time by perpetually almost having accidents. Which is it?

In the house, if he's not chasing after his favorite stuffed mouse (I know, a mouse, go figure), or stretched out in his blue terry bed then he's covertly sniffing around the same spot--in front of my china cabinet (on wood floors, Thank God!)--to mark his territory.

Training a new puppy -- high vigilance and an infinite amount of patience absolutely required.
